What is the first movie that comes to mind when someone says they had it on surround sound and it was awesome? Come on, you should know this. If you answered Top Gun, you are correct. There is no movie in history, other than Saving Private Ryan, where surround sound makes such a difference. When you watch Top Gun in surround sound, you can hear the engines of the fighter jets in your brain. It's an incredible experience, and it's something I was able to enjoy last night. Once I saw that Top Gun was coming on Cable TV in HD, I set up my surround sound, popped some popcorn, cracked open a soda, and threw myself back on my leather couch. Oh man, it was heaven. I even shut off the ringer on the phone and put a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on my front door. It was 11 p.m. on a Thursday night, so it was doubtful anyone would knock on my door, but I still felt it was a necessary precaution. Luckily, I was able to enjoy the movie from beginning to end. I wasn't that into the whole love story part, but the rest of it was great. The fighter jet scenes alone make this my favorite action movie of all time. And while the ending was a little corny, it was still neat.
